The Cerro / (Tepuy) / Holy / Mountain of Autana (1240 km2).

Autana was declared a National Monument in 1978. It is located in the northeast of the Venezuelan Amazon basin, east of the Orinoco River between Rio Autana Cuao and in the forest reserve of Sipapo (The Piaroa Indian territory). The Autana mountain is a giant rock sacred to the Piaroa Indians - in the native language - it means The Holy Mountain, which in mythology represents the tree of life from which came all the fruits that serve to support the man and animals. Its formation is sandstone Precambrian origin. Another unique feature of this Tepui is that on top of facing a single cave in the world consists entirely of quartzite. This cave is about 400 meters long and reaches a height of 40 meters.
