Time course of direction of Tourism.
In 1950, with the intention of promoting tourism in the Amazon Federal Territory then, today statehood, under the rule of CMT. Enrique Rincon Calcaño, establishing the Department of Tourism attached to the Regional Executive.
This Directorate is eliminated during 1959, under the rule of WTDC. Guillermo Pena Pena, to take the form of Commissioner's Office for the Promotion of Tourism. Subsequently, in 1963 being the Governor for the time Mr. Francisco Ettedgui, after an internal restructuring, the tourist office takes the rank of Chief.
By the year 1971, this Headquarters becomes merged with the Office of Public Affairs, becoming then the Office of Public Relations and Tourism of the Government under the leadership of Ing º Enrique Ramos Cordero. In 1987, the Office of Public Relations and Tourism, returns to a category of Directors, spreading like the Department of Tourism again, that under the leadership of Governor Bernabe Gutierrez Parra. In July of that year, the then Governor Prof. Enrique Mata Betancourt returns to the Chief of Tourism. It was in 1995 when the Governor Prof. Nelson Ortiz Devia, aided in raising the Territory to State, rises again to its status as the Tourism Board of Governors of the Amazon. At the present time, in March 2003 with the enactment of the Constitution of the Amazon, the name was changed to the higher bodies of the State Public Administration, declaring all directorates and secretariats, becoming then the Secretariat of Tourism of the Amazonas State Government.
