We found clear Manilcara, M. Bidentata and M. Williams, also known as resin purguo. They are grouped into the great family of the Sapotaceae; are found in large patches scattered in Amazonian forests, though in the vast flat surface, these trees have a preference for small elevations or low hills. Although not in the same profusion, some varieties in the Cordillera de la Costa, in the central and East, but now its working shall be uneconomic.

The irrational exploitation of purguo resulted in the loss of millions of trees in production in order to extract the láctex were shot down, using very primitive destructive techniques for many years. This was why it was said that this species had disappeared because he had been exterminated by man himself who profit from it. But fortunately at that time were not located and exploited (destroyed) trees that were removed from rivers and streams busiest. Also in places where plants were leveled, it seems that destroyed seeds have germinated and these old balata spots are being renewed.

The time for collection is a bit painful because it must be in the rainy season. For that time the price changes had a high average of Bs 100, oo the kg; in the calculation of average per tree was about 20 kg .. Currently there is demand, the market is paralyzed.

It's too long a list and description of all useful plants and their products worked or not. But above all we must not falter in repeating that any benefits you want out of them, is always conducted with great spirit of conservation. Remember that is conducive to the exploitation of balata, the tree was cut, so that once down, they proceeded to make incisions in the bark to the sage who is bleeding so we can collect it. This tree almost came to extinction, now appearing in small patches in some corners of the state of Amazonas. Also many trees were damaged rubber when sometimes these were "chopped" in the cortex by workers who had no practice in making a shallow incision.
